Special party “Sorriso Maroto – As Antigas” arrives in Brazil

Show has special fundraising for the Spreading Sorrisos campaign, created by the band

At the beginning of this year, the Naughty Smile announced some dates for the “Sorriso Maroto – As Antigas” project. The band has been traveling around Brazil hosting a special party, just with old hits.

The party is a unique experience, which goes beyond the stage. Karaoke, zip lines, interactive totems and a ferris wheel were some of the activities used in Rio de Janeiro. “We put into practice everything we drew on paper and created our “Sorriso in Rio das Antigas”, a mini Rock in Rio by Sorriso Maroto”, jokes Bruno Cardoso, the band's lead singer. And the group guarantees that the public in the cities where the party passes can expect to live a complete experience with Sorriso.

The tour numbers so far are impressive. There were two sold out dates in Rio de Janeiro (more than 28 thousand people) and more than 21 thousand in São Paulo alone. In Fortaleza and Manaus the band received more than 18 thousand people each, Belém, 17 thousand and Belo Horizonte, where some scenes were recorded for the DVD, brought together more than 45 thousand attendees, a record for the party's audience. “It's been magical to travel all over Brazil with Sorriso Maroto - As Antigas”, celebrates Bruno.

According to the singer, the project had been kept under lock and key since 2018, the date on which they would celebrate 20 years of career. “As I became ill, the plans were postponed, but these five years of waiting served to mature this idea”, he says. The pilot project took place in Maracanã, in “our area”, as Bruno defines it. The almost 10 thousand tickets sold out in 30 minutes and at the request of the public, Sorriso organized a second edition, this time for 16 thousand people.

Spreading Smiles Campaign

In 2023, Sorriso Maroto decided to take on the responsibility of being even more aligned with good practices in sustainability, diversity, inclusion and solidarity. The flagship of this social commitment is the “Espalhando Sorrisos” program, a project that will promote social inclusion through oral care for vulnerable people.

5 reais will be donated from each ticket for the “Sorriso Maroto – As Antigas” tour shows, in addition to 20 reais from each solidarity courtesy. With the total amount, the project will fund an oral health effort for children, adolescents and adults.

In each city, the project will map NGOs engaged with the cause. The following projects have already been completed: Apolônia do Bem (dental arch reconstruction for women who have experienced domestic violence), Dentistas do Bem (oral health maintenance), Operação Sorriso (cleft lip and palate surgeries) and Oris (oral health for people in situations of road).

Among the amounts raised are more than 20 thousand reais in Rio de Janeiro, almost 30 thousand reais in São Paulo, more than 13 thousand reais in Fortaleza and 8 thousand and 7 thousand reais in Manaus and Belém, respectively, and more than 170 thousand reais in Belo Horizon.
